About Us

All-Court Tennis began in  the summer of 2003, with only a three weeks of half-day camps. Over the years hundreds of campers have joined us for one, or up to six weeks, of tennis fun.  Founder and director, Eric Olson, originally started All-Court to keep his five kids active and working in the summer, All-Court has continued to have a “family” feel to it in spite of a staff that is now mostly former players and Pingree students.

All-Court Tennis has thrived because it employs talented, patient, and enthusiastic young coaches who are able to work effectively with campers in small groups.  Most of our instructors are veteran Pingree tennis players, and many have experience playing tennis in college.  Our teachers know what it takes to be a successful tennis player, whether in high school, USTA, or beyond.  However, one major goal of All-Court is simply to instill a life-long love of the game and the desire to get off the couch and rally with friends and family.  We have a successful Counselor-in-Training program that allows us to develop potential staff and utilize supervised extra support for teaching the youngest members.  Even though director Eric Olson’s children are all through college, they still come back for a week or two in the summer to help give All-Court the “family feel” that many parents appreciate.  We welcome back many returning players summer after summer.

Clinic Goals:

All-Court Tennis strives to provide child-friendly, age-appropriate instruction.  Each day is unique, often with a specific theme—e.g. “Backhands,” in which a stroke is broken down into its essential parts and taught as a simple sequence. Players practice each component, and then assemble these parts back into a complete movement.  Teaching activities are varied, focused, and fun—often utilizing a mix of small court games, quick drills, and slightly silly “special events.”  With small teaching groups we are able to tailor what we teach to match the interests of most campers.

Clinics will NOT be canceled due to rain. Instead, instruction will shift to indoor activities such as tennis in the gym, videotape analysis of player activities from earlier lessons, stroke analysis, DVDs of famous matches from history, and Wimbledon Bingo.  Table Tennis is also an excellent indoor activity that teaches coordination and spin, and Coach Olson’s experience as the head of the Pingree Table-Tennis Club makes Table Tennis both fun and instructional.

  • Location: the edge of Pingree Campus just past the soccer fields.
  • What to bring: Medical Release and Registration forms (located on the Registration page), snack and lunch (lunch only if full-day camper), sunscreen, water bottle, hat, and tennis racket.
  • What to wear: weather appropriate clothing (ie wear light shirt and a hat or sunglasses on sunny days), sneakers/tennis shoes.

Additional Info:

  • No peanut products on the first day of camp in case there are allergy concerns—we will adjust snack for the rest of the week if necessary.
  • We can lend tennis rackets on a temporary basis, and assist parents if they need advice in selecting a racket.
  • Water will be freely available at all times, and frequent breaks are built into the day.  We suggest players bring their own water bottles for convenience–and to save on paper cups.
  • We welcome any participant with a special medical need or physical impairment, but ask that you inform the director at the time of registration so that any adjustments can be made. We enjoy getting to know each camper as an individual, and we celebrate each player.
